Surfing with Whales

The editorial board had a tough decision for pic of the week, some were really pulling for adam and his team snacks, but in the end we had to go with the once in a life time, never before seen picture of kite surfing over a whale. Apparently, the kite surfer had a camera on his kite that took the amazing pictures, shortly after this picture was taken he was swallowed by the whale and a wooden puppet was later seen searching the waters for the whale…just kidding about the last part…or are we.

Pic of Day

We are considering adopting a new pic of the day or week feature here on Freshtoid, but this one takes the prize for pic of the month or year! This wave quickly went dirty for Kirby Brown and shortly after the picture was taken, he was swallowed up by the behemoth wave. More pictures and information available here.

Volcano Surfing?

At Freshtoid we pride ourselves on being on the cutting edge of well…just about everything. This includes what is HOT in extreme sports, as an avid surfer, I don’t think you can get much hotter than surfing in volcanic waters. The water is so hot, you have to be towed in and surf on a stand-up paddle board or else you will burn yourself. Frankly, the whole thing seems insane, and the idea of finishing a day of surfing when the skin on your leg peels from boiling water is crazy, but we will keep you all updated in case this sport takes off. Just don’t wipe out, or you might end up giving the local sharks a special treat of cooked meat. For more crazy pictures of the surfing session click here.
