Nike is not the only one banking on a Kobe/Lebron Finals. Vitamin Water also has a stake in the event, and while their commercial does not involve puppets, it does get you amped for the potential match up. The best part is at 8 seconds when the bell hop chucks the bag in support of Kobe.

Beer commercials always seem to be the best, but I would really like the shake the hand of mind behind Dos Equis’ “Most Interesting Man in the World Campaign.” This commercial is full of some of the best one-liners on television, including “He lives vicariously through himself” “I don’t always drink beer, but when I do, I prefer Dos Equis” and finally “He once had an awkward moment, just to see what is was like.”
Heineken ‘Let a Stranger Drive You Home’
May 6, 2009
With the NBA playoffs in full swing, we are seeing some fresh commercials on the airwaves. While some people can’t get over Jack in Box’s ‘Mini Sirloin Burgers,‘ the subtle humor and wit of Heineken’s new ‘Let a Stranger Drive You Home’ commercial makes for one of the best advertisements of the season. Allow me to break it down for you, first of all the song makes the ad, ‘Just a Friend’ by Biz Markie because we have all heard it before. Then you see people in the cab enjoying the music, again something that we can all relate to. But the commercial takes a humorous turn when we see the driver as an old white man singing right along with the rest of the cab…genius. Add to it, the positive message and the not blatant branding by Heineken and the result is classic.

Chevy’s ‘Manstep’ Ad
January 20, 2009
Auto sales is a cutthroat industry to be involved in, but without a little friendly competition, we would not have genius ads such as the one above. To stick it to your competitor, and turn what could be perceived as an advantage into an embarrassment, is what America is all about. More on the ongoing marketing battle between GM and Ford here.
John Lennon’s Posthumonous Ad
January 2, 2009
So the estate of John Lennon may have a problem releasing privately recorded Beatles tracks, but apparently no issue lending his image and voice to the charity One Laptop Per Child. It is a little (actually a lot) creepy, but the technology is amazing; it looks and sounds just like John Lennon himself. While we can’t say how Lennon would react, Freshtoid is in the initial stages of having James Dean and/or Marilyn Monroe speak on our behalf. Keep your eyes peeled for the ad, but for now, enjoy one last chance to hear Lennon’s unique voice.
Superbowl Ad Ploy
October 26, 2008
We love creative advertising at Freshtoid, and creative classifieds are also a winner. One woman has had the ingenious idea of combining the two and featuring herself on a commercial during the Superbowl. Of course she is trying to raise the money with donations. To hear more on the idea and to make your own donation (although if you are donating to this worthy cause, I had better see some love in the Tipjoy account) click here.
